Police has recorded six uncertain deaths in Juba this week alone with four suicide cases.
South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) Spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin, speaking to the media on Friday, said some of the bodies were found around public places, in the city.
“We registered some cases of people who died in public places like market. We also registered four cases of suicide, among them, a student at Upper Nile University in this week,” he said.
Maj. Gen. Daniel revealed that a Sudanese national was among the six death cases recorded.
He said the body of the Sudanese national was found around Juba Bridge on Thursday morning.
“The body was taken to the hospital for a postmortem to find whether he died of attack or something else. Others also need to be investigated to know their causes,” he explained.
He said they are yet to investigate the motives that triggered the alarming cases of suicide in the country.
On the other hand, the police spokesperson said some of the deaths are linked to motorbike theft and other criminal activities.
“We registered two cases last week where a motorbike was robbed and the owner shot and wounded along the road to Bor, near Sherikat, on the other side of the river.” he added.
Last month, police arrested 44 suspects in connection to robbery activities with the suspects in possession of dangerous weapons.
