South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has rejected attempts by the Juba Local Football Association (JLFA) to constitute a steering committee to reorganize its board.

SSFA which has been in loggerhead with the Juba local FA and suspended the area football association earlier over the ownership of Juba football stadium protested attempts by JLFA board to reorganize itself.

In a press release seen by this outlet SSFA board said they do not recognize the steering committee formed by JLFA as a legal body and therefore SSFA cannot work with this illegal committee until they have full legality on the procedure of their formation.

The board of director of SSFA sat for a meeting on the 24 May and reviewed the issues related to the steering committee formulated by JLFA and after careful consideration dismissed the interim body in their resolutions.

Albino Kuek Deng SSFA spokesperson said the board noted that the formation of steering committee by JLFA constitutes a violation of article 6 and article 17 of the unified statute of JLFA 2012 as well as article 16 (k) of statute of SSFA 2012 amended 2021.

The board noted the club caucus body is not a legal body and is not stipulated in any law of SSFA, therefor they cannot call for any assembly meeting.

“The board of directors of South Sudan Football Association remains open to any legally followed procedure as provided for unified statute for Local Football Association 2012 article 6,” Kuek stated in the statement.

The SSFA board of directors also believes that the case of suspended board of JLFA only awaits SSFA general assembly adding Juba Local FA cannot be run by two parallel bodies.

‘The SSFA board of directors urges the JLFA general assembly to adhere to the rules and regulation governing the formation of bodies and ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with the statute of Local Football Association 2012 and the SSFA Statute 2012 amended 2021,” he added.
