Maper Akot Aru market was severely damaged by a fire on Thursday, resulting in injuries of three people who were attempting to save the goods in the store.
Deng Bol, severely burned, was injured while attempting to remove goods from a shop, sustaining injuries to his left foot and back.
“I was just trying to help remove goods and got injured as you could now see all over my body. I have two days now in the hospital as being nursed by the doctors and God willing, I may be better again and back on my feet,” he said.
Bol said it is noteworthy to give support to your neighbor or a person who has a problem though the situation turned catastrophic.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but some suggest that those frying groundnuts may have accidentally allowed the fire to consume the shops.
Dozens of shops have been burnt to ashes according to the residents at Maper.
The Aweil Town Council mayor Mr. Zechakaria Dut Mou said the seven-member committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the fire outbreak at Maper Akot Aru which is the second largest market in Aweil Town.
Dut suggested that those who caused a fire that consumed shops could be charged and compensate the victims.
Last week, a fire in Zara, Aweil Town, consumed buildings accidentally due to a man smoking weed, leaving others without shelters.
