By Mamer Abraham

King of Chollo urged the people of South Sudan to embrace peace during the general elections in December 2024.

Kwongo Dak Padiet made the call during a meeting with Upper State Deputy governor, Ayong Awer Lual, who doubles as SPLM chairperson in the state.

A delegation from the SPLM national secretariat led by the SPLM Secretary for Political Affairs, Makuc Aru, was also present in the meeting.

King Kwongo called for President Salva Kiir Mayardit to be allowed a chance to complete the developmental projects he has not completed.

“Speaking at the same event, his Majesty King Kwongo Dak Padiet called for peace during the upcoming elections and asked the people of South Sudan to give Gen. SALVA KIIR MAYARDIT a chance to accomplish all the developmental projects,” the statement continued.

The Chollo King said he still keeps the promise of viable peace and stability in Upper Nile State, according to his vow, during the celebration conducted at the Dr. John Garang Mausoleum in Juba.

Upper State Deputy governor, Ayong Awer Lual, who doubles as SPLM chairperson in the state, said during the meeting that the people of Malakal are ready for endorsement of Salva Kiir Mayardit as the flagbearer for December 2024 general elections.

“Upper Nile State is ready to host SPLM mega rally in Malakal town for the endorsement of H.E. Cde Salva Kiir Mayardit as flag bearer for the upcoming general elections,” Ayong said in a statement.

The deputy governor said all the roads are now open for free and safe movement of people from the counties to the state capital, Malakal, for Kiir’s endorsement.

On Tuesday, the SPLM delegation concluded a youth training that was conducted at the SPLM Secretariat, after which a political rally was conducted at the Malakal stadium.

Ayong assured the SPLM Cadres that Upper Nile State would rally behind President Salva Kiir Mayardit to ensure that he defeats any presidential candidate from other opposition parties during the general elections.

Makuc Aru, the SPLM Secretary of Political Affairs, said the success and blessings of President Salva Kiir Mayardit began in Malakal.

Yesterday, while the SPLM delegation from Juba departed for Juba, the Chairperson said Malakal stadium has seen lights after it remained in darkness for thirteen years, meaning it is ready for the endorsement rally slated for February this year.
