Jamus FC Bolsters Squad with Goalkeeper Signing

By Kei Emmanuel Duku.

Jamus FC, South Sudan’s representatives in the 2024/25 Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions, has bolstered its squad with the signing of goalkeeper Maja Mawith Maling.

Maling joins Jamus FC after the Munuki-based club secured the signature of Sudanese goalkeeper Sherif Aldin, earlier.

Both players bring a wealth of experience to the team as they prepare to represent South Sudan in the CAF Confederation Cup, which kicks off in one month.

Maling was previously playing for Australian National Premier League, Victoria club Port Melbourne SC and the South Sudan national team.

The 24-year-old was born in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya during the Sudanese civil war.

Maling began his career at Dandenong Thunder FC in the Australian league in 2015, making one appearance.

He made his senior debut for South Sudan in a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in August 2019 and has since gone on to play 12 matches for the national team.

Maling was in goal for South Sudan’s 3-0 defeat to Sudan in the recent FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers played in Juba earlier this month. Prior to joining Jamus FC, Maling also played for Melbourne Victory U-21 (2017-2019), Melbourne City (2018/19), and Dandenong Thunder FC (2023/24).
