Commissioner urges Rokon Demarcation plan

By Bosco Bush

Juba County Commissioner, Emmanuel Tete is urging the communities of Rokon Payam to accelerate demarcation and urbanization plan for the area and its neighboring Payams.

He made this call during the Feast of St. Peter the Apostle celebration held by the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Rokon Payam of Juba County, Central Equatoria State.

Commissioner Tete emphasized the demarcation plans with the support of his office administration, which he believes would benefit the communities of Rokon, Tijor, and Dolo in the near future as the nation progresses with developmental projects.

“The most important work that I would like us to do together, as I’ve initially announced on my arrival here, is the demarcation of the area, starting from Rokon, Tijor to Dolo,” he said to the Chief, Payam Administrator, and the Community of Rokon.

The National Unity Government is currently undertaking infrastructural projects in the country through the “Oil-for-Road” program, accruing thousands of barrels of crude oil per day for the project.

In March 2024, the Ministry of Roads and Bridges disclosed the construction of over 10 major highways linking the country, including the Juba-Mundri-Yambio highway that passes through Rokon Payam.

Ezbon stated that such developmental plans would create urbanization in the area.

“Our nation is developing, and very soon, this road will be constructed and paved. If you don’t want to demarcate this place for yourselves, then a time will come when some people will do it for you, which will not be okay,” Ezbon said.

He further appealed to the community and the authorities on the ground to implement his directives by the summer of 2025.

“I’m appealing to our small community here, under the administration of Gen. Aldo Baki, to implement this plan in the next summer season.”

Meanwhile, Auxiliary Bishop Santo Loku Pio emphasized the importance of the Feast of St. Apostle Day celebration for Christians and their love for Jesus Christ.

He urged the Christians and priests in Rokon to continue embracing unity and peace among each other.
