Juba County prohibits street vending

By Kei Emmanuel Duku

Juba County Commissioner, Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, has issued a local order aimed at improving order and sanitation within the county.

Effective July 17th, 2024, the directive bans several activities along Juba County’s main roads, especially Kuburi Haboba.

The new regulations prohibit all forms of street vending, including displaying goods outside shops, hawking, and selling electronics, vegetables, and other edibles along major roadways. Additionally, car washing services are no longer permitted on the streets.

Those who fail to comply with the order risk confiscation of their products.

Mr Ezbon further emphasized the importance of proper waste disposal. The order strictly prohibits the dumping of garbage on the streets after collection has already occurred in the mornings.

This new initiative by the Juba County Commissioner is expected to address concerns about congestion and cleanliness within the county.
