Governor Simon Uber Mawut of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State made a brief stop at Madhol Payam before continuing his journey to Akon, Warrap State, where he was scheduled to meet with local officials in Gogrial West County, the president’s hometown.
During his visit last week, Governor Uber addressed the local residents, urging them to remain resilient despite the challenges they face.
“I understand that you are lacking essential services such as infrastructure, schools, and healthcare,” he stated.
He cautioned against politicizing local issues, specifically referencing the situation regarding Majok Yithiou.
“The time will come for changes in government, and your sons and daughters will be employed if their merits allow,” he added.
Governor Uber emphasized his commitment to meritocracy in the appointment of cabinet members, assuring the audience that representation would be prioritized.
In response to local chief Amet Mabior Yel’s concerns about calls for the replacement of municipal officials, the governor urged residents to avoid sectarianism and refrain from fostering division.
He warned against inciting hatred through finger-pointing.
Additionally, Uber stressed the presence of international investors from Dubai accompanying him during his visit.
He noted their interest in building a school or clinic in Madhol Payam and exploring opportunities to assist in relocating some refugees from Sudan to the area.
