Lakes State: Three commissioners take oath

Governor of Lakes State, Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor, on Monday, officiated over swearing-in of three newly appointed commissioners of Wulu, Cueibet and Yirol West, counties.

Taking their oath were Justin Majok Manyiel for Wulu County, Daniel Deng Mario for Cueibet County, and Makeny Marial Anuer for Yirol West County.

Governor Mabor welcomed the new commissioners, urging them to be energetic and committed leaders to drive the state forward.

“Our primary mission is to establish peace across all eight counties, at every Payam and Boma level,” he stated.

He stated that the commissioners to implement the revitalized peace agreement, calling it essential for fostering unity in South Sudan.

“The implementation of this peace agreement is a top priority; without it, we cannot move forward,” Mabor asserted.

He noted that the upcoming elections in December 2024 are a crucial part of this process, urging that stability and peace must be achieved through democratic means.

“We must have elections to choose our leaders and ensure a stable future for South Sudan,” he added.

He reflected on the progress made since Lakes State experienced turmoil, expressing a commitment to sustain the current peace.

“Sustaining peace requires hard work,” he said.

Former Deputy National Minister of Higher Education, Ustaz Gabriel Kuc Abiei, urged the commissioners to work collaboratively.

“Government is a public responsibility grounded in law,” he explained, stressing the importance of teamwork, direction, and consultation among leaders.

He encouraged the commissioners to prioritize service for the people above any personal or political interests.

Commissioner Justin Majok Manyiel, on behalf of his fellow commissioners, expressed gratitude to both the governor and President Salva Kiir Mayardit for their appointments.

He affirmed their dedication to the motto “Lakes First,” prioritizing peace, security, agriculture, education, and healthcare for the community.

“Our main goal is to address the fragile economic situation and foster development and prosperity in Lakes State,” he declared.
