The New commissioner of Morobo County Charles Data has assumed office, taking over from Joseph Mawa.

Mr. Charles was escorted by several senior government officials, religious and community leaders.

Speaking during the event, Huda Michael a senior SPLM member called on the citizens of Morobo to foster peaceful relations with neighboring countries, particularly Uganda and Congo, by promoting agricultural collaboration.

She emphasized the importance of building strong ties with these nations for the benefit of the community.

She praised the good relationship between Yei River County and Morobo, urging the new Morobo County Commissioner to emulate the positive actions of the former Yei River Commissioner.

Huda also encouraged the outgoing commissioner to be patient as they await their next role within the SPLM, assuring them that the party values its leaders.

Additionally, she expressed appreciation for the support of commissioners’ wives in developing future leadership.

The new Commissioner Charles Data extended congratulations to the people of Morobo and the government of South Sudan for their leadership appointment.

He called for continued support from former Commissioner Joseph Mawa to help deliver essential services throughout the county.

The women’s representative of Morobo County highlighted the need for increased support for women in the area, noting the challenges they face in mobilizing across the five payams of Morobo.

Youth representative Asega Obadiya voiced concerns about the lack of job opportunities for young people, stressing the urgency of creating employment initiatives to combat youth unemployment.

Bishop Data Amosa Elinoma of the ECS Diocese in Morobo reminded the gathering that some individuals pursue leadership for personal gain.

He urged the new commissioner to prioritize peace and development, enabling displaced individuals in refugee camps to return home despite the obstacles they face.

“We need leaders who serve the interests of the community,” he stated, urging the new administration to focus on building a thriving and united Morobo County.
