Peter Maker signs two-year deal with Kenyan giant AFC Leopard

By Kei Emmanuel Duku

South Sudan national team defender Peter Maker has officially joined Kenyan Premier League powerhouse AFC Leopard on a two-year contract.

The move comes after the towering defender’s previous contract with Serbian club Radnicki Mitrovica expired.

Maker, a versatile player capable of playing both defensive midfield and center-back, has been training with AFC Leopard during his free-agent period.

The 30-year-old has gained significant experience throughout his career, playing for clubs in South Sudan, Zambia, and Serbia.

Maker’s journey began with Al-Ghazal Wau in South Sudan before he moved to Amrat United. He then had stints with ZESCO United in Zambia and Radnicki Mitrovica in Serbia.

While at Amrat United, Maker earned his national team debut under former coach Cyprian Besong Ashu and was subsequently named captain of the Bright Stars.

He has represented South Sudan in numerous matches, including the recent 3-0 defeat to Sudan in the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

It remains to be seen if Maker will be included in Nicholas Dupuis’s plans for South Sudan’s upcoming AFCON qualifying matches against Congo Brazzaville and South Africa.
