Bureau of Standards announces launch of quality gala awards

South Sudan Bureau of Standards has announced the launch of the first-ever national quality gala awards for manufacturers and companies in the country.

The awards are a climax of the South Sudan National Bureau of Standards’ credit activities of the year intended to promote quality products, manufacturers, and firms that have shown commitment to quality management.

Mr. John Lual Akol, Chair of the National Award Committee, announced the launch of the awards in collaboration with the South Sudan National Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture.

According to the committee, this is the best event to identify companies that have invested resources in ensuring their products meet the required local and international standards.

He noted that national front-runner companies would now go to compete at the regional level, at the East African Community Quality Awards that will be held in Arusha on November 30, 2024.

Akol, who is also the acting chair of National Chamber of Commerce revealed that the awards would be in three categories; company of the year ‘recognizing overall business excellence’.

Product of the Year ‘celebrating the best in product quality and innovation’ and finally Service Company of the Year ‘awarding excellence in service delivery and customer satisfaction.’

He explained that the winners of quality gala awards will be celebrated also during the Chamber Quality Awards 2024 which will kick off in the near future.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director for the South Sudan National Bureau of Standards, Gloria Nyoka encouraged eligible companies to partake in the national Quality Awards.

Mrs. Nyoka said the awards would promote national businesses to regional and global standards, adding that this would put the country on the right path to export its produce and enhance economic growth.

According to organizers, the door is now open for applicants and will close on September 13, 2024 – thereafter, there will be a site visit that will take place between 16 to 20 September 2024.

Furthermore, the National Quality Award committee will then evaluate the applications and determine the top four entries as winners of the awards that will be presented in October, this year.
