Juba County Commissioner arrests land grabbers in Kabu

By Philip Buda Ladu

Juba County Commissioner, Emmanuel Tete Ezbon has taken decisive action against land grabbers operating in the Kabu residential area.

In response to reports of illegal land demarcation, the Commissioner ordered the arrest of individuals involved in fraudulent land allotment and forgery of the Juba County logo.

The individuals were accused of falsely claiming land for a non-existent “Jadallah International Market.”

Following an investigation, authorities discovered a signpost at the Seventh Day Roundabout falsely advertising the market on the outskirts of Juba.

Further inquiries determined that the market was fake and non-existent, exposing the individuals behind the signpost as land grabbers.

In a statement to the media on Thursday, Commissioner Tete urged residents to be vigilant when purchasing land and to strictly adhere to legal procedures.

He reiterated the County Government’s commitment to combating illegal land practices.

The suspects were apprehended in an “open space” office after being found in possession of forged documents bearing the Juba County logo, further highlighting the gravity of the situation.

They had allegedly demarcated land and even demolished some houses of formal settlers in the area.

Commissioner Tete clarified that the Governor of Central Equatoria State, H.E Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani who’s on an official mission of the tour of counties, was not involved in these unlawful activities.

“We have apprehended those responsible for the fake Jadallah International Market in Kabu,” Commissioner Tete stated. “These individuals not only demarcated the land illegally but also demolished some houses.”

The Commissioner reiterated his call for citizens to use legal means to acquire land within the county and emphasized the importance of following proper procedures to ensure fair and transparent land transactions.
