Eastern Equatoria State Transitional Legislative Assembly has postponed summon of the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning to discuss the tax harmonization bill due to the absence of the motion’s raiser.
According to Charles Longolio, the assembly’s information officer, the summoning session was rescheduled for Wednesday as lawmaker, Visor Likali, the motion raiser, was not present.
“Today, October 22, 2024, we were scheduled to discuss the tax harmonization bill. The minister was present, along with most of the invited members.
Unfortunately, Hon. Visor Likali was absent, so the summoning session was postponed to tomorrow, October 23,” said Longolio.
The information officer expressed surprise at the motion raiser’s absence and noted that all members called for an adjournment to allow for the discussion to take place on Wednesday.
While no clear reason was provided for Likali’s absence, Longolio expressed hope that the matter would be addressed the following day.
“The raiser of the motion was absent without explanation, which caused confusion among the members. We called for him to rise and present his motion, but he was not present. As a result, the motion was not supported,” Longolio added.
