As you sow, so shall you reap

Sowing refers to scattering of seeds upon the land for growth and production of crops, whereas reaping refers to harvesting of the crops.

As far as this article is concerned, sowing refers to toiling for accomplishment and reaping refers to obtaining the fruits of labor.

To my dismay, so many people reap where they have not sown without taking into their account that there are consequences of reaping where one has not sown. What name is given to such people? They are called corruptionists, I mean they are thieves who steal on an industrial scale. People who reap where they have not sown are murderers of the people who sow.

The Bible recorded a shocking story of the two spouses who had tried to reap where they had not sown, but the Holy Spirit, through Peter, condemned them to death and they died regretting it. A man called Ananias and his wife Sapphira were sent by the Apostle Peter to sell a piece of property and come back with the money. Ananias sold a piece of property, and with his wife’s knowledge, kept back some of the proceeds and brought only a part and laid it at the apostle’s feet.

As full of the Holy Spirit as Peter was, he said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God. When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and died. And great fear came upon all who heard of it. The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him.

After an interval of about three hours, Sapphira came in, not knowing what had happened to her husband. And Peter said to her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much.” And she said, “Yes, for so much.” But Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Hark, the feet of those that have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” Immediately she fell down at his feet and died. When the young men came in, they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. And great fear came upon the whole church, and upon all who heard of these things.

I wish the apostle Peter resurrects today in South Sudan to condemn the people who gain without sweat. If Peter were alive in South Sudan, how many Ananiases and Sapphiras would have died of reporting only a small portion of what they have collected? So many South Sudanese are reaping where they have not sown that I sometimes think they must be descendants of Ananias and Sapphira. And if yes, then has Peter died completely that he cannot even send the thunder of the Holy Spirit to strike these corruptors and corruptresses?

It is unfortunate that the corruptionists wipe their foreheads to cajole the public that they are sweating when they are not sweating, how dare they sweat in front of air conditioners? Life lived consuming what you have not sweated for is always halved by the curses of the donkeys who sow and have their seeds harvested by strange reapers. I wish we had Peter-like leaders in South Sudan to murder those who reap where they did not sow or are they fearing because they might murder themselves? As you sow, so shall you reap. People reap only when they sow.

Thanks for reading Sowing The Seed Of Truth.
