President Salva Kiir Mayardit has signed into law six legislations and amendment bills recently passed by the reconstituted National Transitional Legislative Assembly (TNLA) including the Public Financial Act.
As dictated by the constitution, the head of state is to put his signature to any legislation or legal framework ratified by the parliament to seal it as an act or law governing the particular institution or sector.
“President Salva Kiir Mayardit has formally penned his assent into six critical pieces of legislation, marking a milestone in the ongoing country’s reform agenda,” partly read a statement from the Office of the President.
Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Ruben Madol Arol Kachuol presented the bills to the President for their assent into law on Monday, November 11, 2024.
He expressed gratefulness for the smooth passage of the legislation, adding that the legislative process followed extensive consultations with various stakeholders before its due passage by the country’s national legislature.
The six bills assented to by the president include, Tourism Act 2024; Public Financial Management and Accountability Act 2011 (Amended 2024); National Bureau of Statistics Act; and Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing Act 2024.
Other are the: Civil Aviation Authority Act 2012 (Amendment Act 2024) and the Compensation and Reparations Authority Act 2024.
