Young man dies in Lakes State road accident

By Yang Ater Yang

A young man has lost his life in a road accident that occurred between Kuelkuac and Wulu County.

According to Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac, the spokesperson for Lakes State Police, the overall security situation in the state is currently calm and stable.

“A young boy was traveling alone on a motorcycle along the Wulu road heading towards Malou when he lost control of the motorcycle. His motorbike overturned, resulting in a serious injury that led to a fatal neck fracture,” he said.

Maj. Makuac noted that the young man was riding at a high speed and did not have any passengers.
He confirmed that the authorities responded quickly to the incident and that the body was subsequently transported to a local hospital for a postmortem examination. The autopsy revealed that the cause of death was indeed a broken neck, resulting from the accident.

Angelina Adhel, the chairperson of the Civil Society Network in Lakes State, expressed her deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a major loss for the community.

“We really have to say to the government of Lakes State and to the traffic police directors and to whoever in traffic duty stations should take care of this seriously “, she said.

She said anybody below 18 years old should not be allowed to ride the motorbike.

“These are the people who even don’t know what they are doing because these are the people with behaviour that sometimes do not know what will happen to their lives “.

She advised the parents to try not to expose their children to risk despite these hardships.

“This child who died in a motorbike accident is still a child below 18 years, and we know childhood behaviour because the childhood behaviour can do anything reckless in which he doesn’t mind what will happen”.

She said children trained themselves alone and were not being trained by experts who knew how to ride a motorcycle.

“We expect traffic police to come to the roundabout, and to all the stations to at least monitor them because it is a policy and no one will complain. It is a policy and the policy has to be restricted such that these young children should not lose their lives.”
