Sudan People’s Liberation Movement In Opposition (SPLM-IO) in Lakes State has appointed Susan Amel Maduot as the new Interim State Secretary, replacing Hon. Cde. Alek Malaak Atem.
This decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the SPLM-IO State Liberation Council (SLC), convened at the request of a simple majority of its members.
The meeting, chaired by State Chairperson, Isaiah Akol Mathiang, included party leaders from various sectors, including the youth league, women’s league, veterans, and representatives from the parliamentary and executive caucuses, along with delegates from different counties.
During the session, members evaluated the performance of the outgoing State Secretary and discussed the overall progress of the party in Lakes State over the past few years.
Following a democratic process, the SLC unanimously resolved to remove Cde. Alek Malaak Atem from his position and appoint Susan Amel Maduot as his successor.
Cde. Atem has served as the SPLM-IO State Secretary for four years, from 2020 to 2024.
The leadership change aims to invigorate the party’s efforts and enhance its effectiveness in addressing the needs of the community in Lakes State.
