Over 6,000 teachers fail assessment test

By Deng Athian

Only 3,060 out of 9,228 primary and secondary school teachers passed a recent employment assessment test conducted by the National Ministry of General Education and Instruction in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

A total of 6,168 teachers failed the exam, which was designed to ensure qualified educators in South Sudan’s schools.

Teachers who successfully passed the assessment will be issued licenses and assigned to their respective duty stations.

Those who failed will be given the opportunity to undergo further training to improve their qualifications.
Early this year, the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Ministry of Education conducted an assessment test for teachers across the state.

The aim was to evaluate teacher competency and identify areas for improvement through further training. No teachers will be dismissed based on the results.

The assessment was overseen by the University of Rumbek, across multiple centres.

Officials from the Ministry and local authorities expressed their support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of quality education for the future of the state.

The evaluation process comes amid concerns over payroll discrepancies, with some teachers reporting delays in receiving their salaries.
