Last week, the head of state directed the Ministry of Finance to pay civil servant salaries.
These directives came just after the resumption of the Oil flow as Sudan lifted its force majeure. This sounds positive if put into action, however, sometimes statements are announced by top leadership just to delight the hearts of the civil servants.
The critical economic inflation in the country does not require a delay in paying civil servant salaries, and the government needs to improve the situation.
Last year the finance minister promised to increase the civil servants’ salaries and pay them on time, but what happened is that salaries were not paid for 11 months and only given incentives for 1 month. This means that the top leaders did not mind about their people’s suffering and took advantage.
Today’s economic situation makes it very difficult to get bread because prices increase every day in the market due to the high exchange rate. Citizens are mostly affected in the country because there are no uniform prices in the market, and the citizens are unable to sustain themselves. Also, across the country, citizens die of hunger, and nobody understands the situation.
The national minister for finance and economic planning should make sure that civil servants are paid, imagine the year just started should not be like the other years, should not go for 7Months without payment no wonder how they are pushing with life outside there.
Speaking not on dramatic partiality, because it’s an altitude of every minister of finance saying the ministry will pay the salaries and wages of the civil servants in less than a weekend is seen as empty promises are understandable, they are human beings treat them well.
Last year it was said that salaries would be paid by committees comprising accountants from the Ministry of Finance and officers from the Ministry of Public Service, as well as other spending agencies, this method will work which ended in tears, though thinking that the institution handling is well equipped with skills but it’s gone a getting tears from the crocodile eyes and even the corruption of the highest order civil servants did not get a penny. What a country! civil savants are suffering, even their state soldiers are in the same dish yet they are supposed to have a budget for their families Just like other countries do, but here a soldier has family is subjected to robbing from the poor Citizens in the name-checking and protecting civilians or attach to a general home so he can earn a living.
What doesn’t South Sudan have that it defers its civil servants’ salaries midst non-oil revenue collections and many other minerals, where is the money going?
I’m appealing to the authorities to pay civil servants salaries as directed to reduce what people are going through in this economic situation.
I also take this opportunity to thank the civil servants for working for the country although the salaries delays for more months. You still committed yourself and that is why Nationalism continues with the spirit to build this country.
God protect South Sudan.
