Kator FC solidified their lead in the South Sudan Premier League with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Olympic FC of Renk at Juba Stadium on Wednesday.
Olympic FC took an early lead in the first half, but Kator FC rallied to equalize before halftime.
Two late goals sealed the win for Kator FC, with Michael scoring in the 87th minute and David converting a penalty in the 93rd minute of extra time.
The win extends Kator FC’s unbeaten streak in the inaugural Premier League and keeps them atop the table with 19 points after seven matches.
They hold a slim one-point lead over Al-Merriekh FC Bentiu, who have 18 points, also from seven games. For Olympic FC, the loss leaves them second-bottom with just one point and two games in hand.
Kator FC’s next challenge will be against the undefeated Koryom FC at Juba Stadium, while Olympic FC will face Al-Salam FC of Aweil.
In Wednesday’s other match, title contenders Jamus FC-Juba defeated Lion FC Hunters of Yei 2-1.
Mohammed Adil gave Jamus FC an early lead within the first 10 minutes, but Lion Hunters FC held firm defensively for the remainder of the first half. Isaac Friday leveled the score for Lion Hunters FC in the 57th minute, but an own goal shortly after handed Jamus FC the victory.
Jamus FC now sits fourth in the league with 17 points, two points behind Kator FC and one point behind Koryom FC.
On Saturday, Jamus FC-Juba will face second-place Al-Merriekh FC-Bentiu at 1:45 PM, while Lion Hunters FC will play last-place Nile City FC of Yambio at 4:00 PM at Juba Stadium. Lion Hunters FC are 10th with 4 points from seven games (1 win, 1 draw), while Nile City FC are yet to earn a point after seven losses.
