I have over the years developed a different picture of Jesus. My love for him too is unaccounted for.
The way you understand him is different from the picture I have about him. I don’t believe a lot in religion but I believe without doubt in the existence of God. Jesus, to me, was both a man and God. He was stripped of his humanity to save mankind. You can imagine such love, that a man must lose his life to save others.
Gods are immortal, they are spirits but Jesus sacrificed his youthfulness for the well being of others. That is one of the greatest risks one would ever take in his or her life. He had a choice to reject the offer and remain god forever. But he chose to be both even when he doesn’t know the ending result.
Jesus was a man who was given a life, better one and death, of worse nature on the same table and asked to choose between the two. He was asked by his father to be careful with his choice. Jesus was a young man who had all the rights to enjoy life and all the privileges that come with it but he dialed death, torture, humiliation because in so doing, was a greater purpose.
Jesus was not self-centred. Our world would have been darker. He was kind, he loved and he had to give his life if it would save millions or billions of people.
That was a cause worth dying for, in life, you need to choose what will kill you. You can choose to die for your family, your children or education. You can give your life for your country if that will bring freedom. You can die for your husband or wife if they are falsely accused. You can die for the vulnerable, those who feel invisible in the economic world, mostly those at the bottom of the pyramid.
Every man with a spine must die for something. But it matters what you choose to kill you because some are not important. You cannot drink yourself to death and expect to be called a hero. This is why I respect all the freedom fighters.
The men and women who laid down their lives for the well-being of their people and country, in risk-taking, one thing is certain, you may come back in a coffin or scavengers eat you up. This is facing death on all possible fronts and you still stand ground with it.
Those men who died in war are second to Jesus. We need to worship them. Another thing I love about God is how he twists events. No single human had even the slightest idea that Jesus would come from a poor lineage. God cheated on a poor man in the name of Joseph but he did it for the goodness of this Joseph. How wonderful life can be sometimes.
When God wants to bless you, he will first break your heart and come back with a remedy to heal your pain. What I cannot understand is why God has been keeping me waiting because he has broken my heart several times.
The message in this is clear, there were better families at that time but God went for the poor ones. He wanted the world to know that anyone can come from nothing and have their seat at the table. Another man who took a risk was Samson. I have always said that we should not over-trust. Samson had conquered the world but he was brought down by the silent power of a woman.
I fear powers that never shout, they will identify your weakness and set you to self-destroy yourself. Don’t fear powers or people that make noise, they are weak, toothless. There was this woman, Delilah who asked her husband where he got his strength. The world had failed to find his weakness but Samson revealed, without thinking, the secret to his strength and that was his downfall.
In life, you need to be careful when someone asks you about something. Don’t be too quick to give answers. You cannot ask me why am happy or why am sad because there is nothing you can do about it. If your spouse is happy or sad, you have to be with them in the moment. Samson was gifted, God molded him and there was no need to know his source of strength but Delilah had a dream, to bring him down. How sad!
What Samson didn’t have was wisdom to know that the woman who should have been his aide-de-camp would turn out to be his enemy. God doesn’t give you everything at once. You can be a nice woman and end up marrying the wrong person.
That was the silent power of Delilah; this is why I fear women. When you pretend to have everything, they will act as if they don’t know and set you to betray yourself. Don’t start a fight with a woman because you will never win. The Bible has a story of people who took risks; a young man by the name of Cain killed his brother because he failed to please God.
This Cain didn’t kill his brother because he has failed to do what was needful of him; he did it out of jealousy because his brother Abel has performed better than him. The number one reason why jealousy is a great risk is that you end up being the victim. It is a wrong risk and he paid dearly for it.
For in the process of trying to bring someone down, you elevate that person unknowingly. Abel died but was received by God and Cain went to Hell. When you are against someone without clear reasons, you have to be aware of the grave you are digging for yourself. You have to be like David who took a good risk. He was so tiny but he was moved by continuous maltreatment of his people by dreaded Goliath.
It was a do-or-die for him but he made it through. Sometimes when your visions are clear and not with intentions to harm others, it won’t matter what kind of risk you will take. God will always stand with you. For greedy leaders who decides who lives and who dies, it is not going to last forever. Choose humility and peace. It will come back for you. Be like Jesus. Peace.
