Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State, Paulino Lukudu Obede, has urged Juba County authorities to team up with concerned institutions to show land to the rightful owners with legal documents.
Lukudu made the call during his visit to Juba County headquarters, where he engaged with several technical offices as well as the county commissioner.
According to the statement extended to the media, Deputy Governor Lukudu emphasized the need for the county officials to help in showing land to those carrying the legal document.
“I took a surprise visit to acquaint myself with the working condition of the staff of Juba County Headquarters and follow up on the resolutions passed in many forums related to Juba County, among them the showing of plots to the rightful owners,” Lukudu said in the statement.
He called on the citizens to cease engaging themselves in land grabbing as well as buying land from the grabbers.
The deputy government expressed that CES states that heads of the country’s capital remain committed to ensuring the legal acquisition of land by all in order to promote urban development.
He added that CES government remains committed to implementing policies that promote development and are in line with the national government policies.
This month, the CES Security Committee resolved the need for the ministry and other institutions to show plots to the rightful owners.
The security meeting chaired by Paulino Lukudu Obede, the Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State, reached some key resolutions, one of which was a resolution to address land issues.
Leone Abe Brown, the State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agencies informed the press after the meeting that the committee had directed the State Ministry of Housing, Land, and Public Utilities to take immediate action in showing plots to individuals with legal ownership documents.
“We recommended that the ministry facilitate the showing of plots to those with valid legal documents,” he stated.
early this month Juba County Commissioner Emmanuel Tete Ezbon announced a new land demarcation initiative in the Joppa Shilk area, aimed at curbing criminal activity and fostering development.
According to the Commissioner’s Press Unit, the project, launched, came to fruition as a result of collaboration between county authorities and the local community.
In a statement to the press, Commissioner Ezbon emphasized the importance of community involvement in the process.
“The community of Joppa met with the Juba County authorities to present their agenda of arranging the residential area in order to combat criminal activities,” he said, stressing that the county cannot demarcate land without community agreement.
“We have agreed with the community on this demarcation because many criminal activities have been taking place here in Joppa,” Mr. Ezbon reiterated adding that the demarcation is intended to address illegal settlements and improve security.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner has urged the community to expedite the necessary land documentation, stating, “This is not just a demarcation; it is a solution to illegal settlements in the area. It will help address insecurity and foster faster development in the county.”
