Juba City Council has enacted a local order, effective February 25, 2025, prohibiting the roaming and keeping of livestock, including cattle, sheep, and goats, within city boundaries.
Mayor Johnson Shuka Nishak Jada signed the order.
“This local order shall be cited as local order No. 01/2025 prohibiting movement of cattle along the streets of Juba City Council and shall come into force on the date of its signature,” the order partly read.
“That no person is allowed to keep cattle, sheep, and goats in the residential areas within the territory of Juba City Council,” it stated.
According to the statement, the Juba City Council expressed that the decision to ban the roaming and keeping of such livestock is part of the implementation of the state security committee resolution No.06/2025.
The mayor urged the members of the public to respect the ban in order to keep the city clean, like other cities in the world.
He ordered the concerned authorities, including the residents, to ensure that the order is implemented.
“The Chief Executive Officer of Juba City Council, the block directors, and the public at large shall ensure the implementation of this order,” the mayor said in the statement.
