Four killed, one injured in Nzara ambush

A fatal ambush along Nzara-Tambura Road in Western Equatoria State has claimed lives of four people.
One other person has critically been injured in the road attack on Tuesday morning.

Nzara County Commissioner, Lino Futaki told No.1 Citizen Newspaper that the attack occurred approximately 12 miles from Nzara town, targeting five travelers.

“We received reports that five individuals were ambushed by unidentified gunmen. Tragically, four were killed instantly, while one sustained serious injury,” the Commissioner said.

He urged residents to exercise caution, particularly at night, and called on the state government to deploy additional security forces to the area.

Meanwhile, Western Equatoria State Acting Police Commissioner, General Samuel Tet confirmed that security agencies have launched an investigation into the attack.

“The victims were mostly cyclists traveling toward Tambura. Security personnel have already been dispatched to the crime scene, and we are gathering intelligence to track down the perpetrators,” Gen. Tet stated.

Director of Police in Nzara County, James Dollo assured the public that law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads.

“The injured survivor is currently receiving medical treatment at Nzara Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have been transferred for necessary legal procedures,” Dollo added.

The attack has raised concerns about insecurity along the Nzara-Tambura route in Western Equatoria State, prompting urgent calls for government intervention to prevent further violence.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security forces as investigations continue.
