Commissioner of Abobo County in Jonglei State has reported that copses of the two women abducted this week were recovered in the bushes by the security organs on Wednesday.
On Sunday, two women were abducted by unknown gunmen after they went to fetch firewood in the neighbourhood.
Speaking to No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper on Thursday, Puok Nyang said the deceased bodies were recovered following the security search in the area.
“The women who were abducted were found yesterday dead, they were found to have been killed by the abductors,” he said.
Hon. Puok didn’t disclose where the abductors came from.
According to Puok, the security situation has been relatively calm following the incident.
“Apparently, the security situation is relatively calm, the County is not experiencing any security threat following that incident,’’ he added.
Revenge killings, child abduction and cattle raiding are the common phenomena facing local communities between Jonglei State and greater Pibor administrative area.
