In his message on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, President Salva Kiir called on the Muslim community to continue praying for peace in the country.
The Eid al-Fitr holiday marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims worldwide.
In his message to Muslim faithful, President Kiir called for prayers for the nation.
“I urge you all to continue praying for our country that Allah (the most Merciful and Gracious) may give us collective wisdom, leaders and followers alike for peace to reign in every corner of our country,” Kiir said.
Eid al-Fitr, often referred to as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is a time of celebration, family gatherings, and community feasting.
It emphasizes gratitude, compassion, and the sharing of resources with those in need.
President Kiir encouraged all citizens to embody the values, saying, “I further, encourage every one of you to contribute to peacebuilding so that our country remains peaceful.”
Reflecting on the spiritual significance of Ramadan, Kiir noted, “The Holy Month of Ramadan teaches the faithful self-restraint, empathy for the less fortunate, and an increased focus on spiritual growth.”
He highlighted how the teachings are essential for promoting a sense of unity and understanding among South Sudanese citizens, regardless of their backgrounds.
As the nation comes together to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, President Kiir conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the Muslim community.
“As we share with you the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr, may the spirit of Eid fill your homes with happiness, your hearts with love, and your lives with endless blessings,” he added.
The country is facing numerous challenges, including political instability and social unrest, Kiir’s message serves as a reminder of the importance of peace and solidarity.
