High-level delegation of Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan (ECS) arrived Diocese of Yambio, in preparation for upcoming 100 Years Centenary Celebration.

On receiving the delegation at Yambio Airstrip on Tuesday, Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State (WES), Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa expressed the state government’s deep appreciation for the opportunity to host the  historic event.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to receive delegates who have come to celebrate this significant milestone, marking 100 years of the ECS in our region,” he said.

The Acting Governor reassured the public of the state’s calm and peaceful atmosphere.

“There is no reason for fear, and I urge everyone not to be swayed by social media rumors that may incite panic. Western Equatoria remains peaceful and stable,” he affirmed.

Bishop Samuel Enosa of the ECS Internal Province, which covers Sudan and South Sudan, also addressed the gathering, welcoming all church members and clergy present, including the Bishop of the Cathedral of Central Equatoria Internal Province.

He highlighted the close cooperation between the ECS and the state government of WES, as well as with the Azande Kingdom, in promoting peace and unity across the state.

The Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, His Grace Justin Badi Arama, stated that his visit to WES was centered on celebrating the church’s 100 years of service and commitment to the community.

“Western Equatoria is known for its respect for unity, peace, and dignity,” he said. “I have come to pray that God will restore His values in our lives, and I urge all South Sudanese to continue advocating for peace, especially for the generations to come.”

His Grace Arama also appealed for peace in Western Equatoria, emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmony and unity in the state.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we must ensure that peace prevails in our land,” he added.

The centenary celebration, scheduled for Sunday, April 14, 2025, will mark a century of spiritual service, growth, and community development by the Anglican Communion in Yambio.

The event is expected to attract thousands of faithful, dignitaries, and guests from across South Sudan and beyond, underscoring the church’s enduring influence in the region.

Governor Rimbasa assured the ECS leadership and visiting guests of the state’s full commitment to ensuring peace, security, and order during the celebrations, especially amidst the current rainy season.

He emphasized the vital role of the church in fostering unity and upholding moral values within communities.

This celebration will undoubtedly be a historic milestone, reflecting the ECS’s enduring spiritual foundation and its significant contribution to the development of Western Equatoria State.
