President Kiir shakes security sector

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday sacked Director General of External Security Bureau of the National Security Services, Gen. Simon Yein Makuach from duty.

In series of decrees, read on state-owned-media, South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), the president also relived presidential advisor for security affairs, Lt. Gen. Thoi Chany.

The president subsequently promoted Lt. Gen. Thoi Chany to the rank of General and appointed him as Director General of External Security Bureau (ESB) in the National Security Service.

Meanwhile, Gen. Madut Dut Yel was appointed to replace Gen. Thoi Chany as presidential advisor for security affairs.

In a separate decree, Kiir dismissed Kawaja Kau Madol, from the position of Undersecretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industries. Achiir John Manyuat has been appointed to replace Madol.
