Ebenezer Radio, broadcasting on 96.7 FM, dedicated to disseminating the word of God has been launched in Kajo-Keji County.
Speaking during the launch, Baptist Convention president in South Sudan, Edward Dima emphasized the transformative role the radio station will play through spiritual nourishment.
“The radio will reach those who are far and cannot access the church, while those nearby can come and pray in the church,” Dima stated.
Launching of the radio station also coincided with inauguration of Baptist Church building.
The construction of the building, spanning over two decades, commenced in December 2003 and concluded in May 2025, with an estimated budget exceeding $180,000. It has a capacity to accommodate over 1,400 worshippers.
Bishop David Kaya of Baptist Church of Kajo Keji, highlighted the church’s significant role in promoting peace, emphasizing that church leaders should be exemplary and that the solution to the current crisis in the country lies within the church.
“The solution for this country is in our hands,” asserted Bishop Kaya. “Church leaders need to lead the peace-making process. There is no other peace anywhere but in the church; the only peace comes through us, and we are the leaders of peace.”
Kajo Keji County Commissioner, Christopher Lisis, used the occasion to urge the country’s top leadership to embrace peace and unity to facilitate the return citizens from refugee camps in Uganda.
Commissioner Lisis further appealed to refugees present at the church to return home and embrace the prevailing peace in the country.
“Through the church, we can bring equality and peace here, and we are determined to do so,” noted.
Commissioner Lisis. “We only need our leaders in different Payams to preach the message of peace so that those who truly need peace will return home. To those who came from the refugee camps in Uganda, take this message: there is now peace in Kajo Keji County.”
Aggrey Tisa Sabuni, Chairperson of the Kajo Keji Community, expressed his satisfaction with the church, recalling that some areas within the county were historically plagued by conflict, leading to disunity among locals.
“In the past, there have been a series of internal conflicts in four areas of the county. There was no cooperation and unity among the civil population, no peace among themselves, and it used to disturb me greatly as a leader,” said Tisa.
Congreves, US Director of Empower One, highlighted that the Church in Kajo Keji County will provide five basic services to residents; educational services, affordable housing, access to clean drinking water, Bible teaching, and other community programs through Ebenezer FM 96.7 Radio.
