First batch of South Sudan’s graduated Unified Forces are soon to vacate training centers for assignment areas as their deployment is due this month or early next month.
Government spokesperson, Michael Makue Lueth, disclosed that Friday’s Council of Ministers regular meeting resolved to speed up preparations and deployment process of the unified forces.
“At present, we have already passed a budget for the deployment of the forces who have already graduated so that they vacate the training center,” Makuei reported on Friday.
He said the first batch of graduated forces will be removed from the training centers and deployed to their respective areas of assignments, as planned by the concerned authority.
“It is thereafter that probably within this month that these forces will be removed from the (designated) training centers and be deployed to their various areas,” he said.
Deployment of the trained, graduated first batch of the unified forces paves way for incoming of the second lot for training.
“…and the new phase two of our unified forces will go to the training centers by the end of this month for the implementation of chapter two of the agreement as agreed upon,” minister Makuei added.
The spokesperson stated that government is also in the process to establish the constitutional review committee of reconstitution of the political parties’ council.
“We are now in the process of establishing the body for constitutional-making process and the political party since it has already been passed as well,” Michael hinted.
The information minister underscored that government continues to wait for all necessary amended laws for restructuring and establishing the commissions in accordance with the amended laws.
Recently, the Minister for Peace building, Stephen Par Kuol presented to the cabinet, a budget of about SSP 3. 6bn, meant for buying food and other requirements for deployment of the unified forces.
National Transitional Committee (NTC) also presented an estimated SSP 90 billion budget for training of phase II of the unified forces which the government is yet to execute.
