WFP, FAO can feed other countries through South Sudan

By Tong Akok Anei Mawien

Though the organization’s policies are geared towards its conventional objectives, formulated and structured to be followed in a certain way or manner, it is still not bad to think outside the box; it is still not bad to forge a thought or action that will help in achieving the set objectives in a more comfortable way. For example, if we view it globally, the countries or institutions that produce a particular item are more comfortable than the countries or institutions that buy or import that particular item, be it the oil and gas sector, the food sector, or any other sector necessary to man. This means that production is the solution to any objectives of great importance to a man’s wellbeing if there is the capacity to produce.

I believe World Food Programme (WFP), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are the biggest charity Organizations that channels their efforts and resources in making sure at least vulnerable anywhere have access to food worldwide among other objectives, making sure any hunger and other food related crises are address  in return of nothing to their camps, just a voluntary attentions and hence, perhaps they are the biggest dealers or actors in food production/industry either by buying or it production worldwide, and as the world is jeopardize by natural disasters, drought, flooding, tsunamis etc, it is a major challenge standing up in provisions of solutions to food or hunger crises, Africa and east Africa in particular is not exempted from this situation, it’s the part with high rate of food  vulnerability.

South Sudan is a land with great abundance, naturally rich soil, and large space free of inhabitants. If indeed, these institutions have a means of food production in some part of the world or not, there are high chances of producing food. There is also a high chance of coordinating or empowering food production in South Sudan in large schemes, either for South Sudan, Africa, or the world. This would help in resolving hunger crises in South Sudan and East Africa as well. And I believe if this organization approaches President Salva Kiir Mayardit, he won’t hesitate to render them the support they need, whether it’s agriculture land or security.

Perhaps people view it silly and post a question of feasibility. It is feasible this way because WFP and FAO had capabilities in machinery provisions, labour employment, monitoring and evaluation, were free from corruption, and were well-oriented enough to work towards a positive project outcome. they can Just go to President Kiir, ask him for agriculture land, outline the possible outcome and the positive impact, let the government own it or the organization own it, or else any mutual consensus will reach and the full operations and schemes policy comes from the organization with an outcome of 60 percent to the Organization and 40 percent to the government. I believe FAO and WPF can feed the world in this scheme and can be their great deal not to purchase food again. It sounds silly, but I wish I could have a chance to present this to stakeholders in details, its benefits, and feasibility.
