Private schools in the state have performed better than public schools.

“Private schools had 11,170 candidates where 10,989 passed giving 98.4% of average while public schools consisted of 2,423 candidates who sat and 2289 of them passed with 94.5% of average,” the index reads.

Cirisio Zakaria Lado, the state minister of general education and instructions pledged to invest more in private schools.

He warned schools against charging students to check their academic results.

“We have heard that some schools are charging learners for checking results. This is a bad practice. Charges for production of the certificate in the ministry is a bit fair but no school should collect money for checking results,’’ he said.
