Night gang injures Gudele resident

By William Madouk

A resident of Gudele block six in Juba was shot and injured by a group of unidentified criminals on Saturday night.

According to a close relative of the victim, Barjok Maduok, the incident occurred around 11 PM as the victim, Dut Angok Dut, also known as “Mahmoud,” was heading to Maduok’s house, where he had been staying temporarily with his wife.

“Dut Angok Angok known as ‘Mahmoud’ was attacked last night (Saturday) at 11:00 PM while heading to my house in Gudele block (6), the house I gave him for a time being as his temporary residence for him and his wife,” Maduok said.

Maduok recounted that the assailants attacked Dut, injuring his head with a panga and shooting him in the left jaw with a pistol.

The victim was immediately rushed to Juba Teaching Hospital, but there were no doctors available for the night shift.

The family then shifted Dut to Giada Hospital, where they waited until 9 AM, but again, no doctor was present. They eventually took him to Freedom Hospital, where a doctor examined him, but he was not a specialist in treating jaw injuries.

“We shifted to Giada hospital at 2:00 AM until 9:00 AM and no doctor was available. We came to the Freedom Hospital and there was one doctor but was not jaw specialists and now we move back to Juba Teaching Hospital,” Maduok lamented.

An X-ray examination revealed that Dut’s skull was unharmed, but the bullet was lodged in his left jaw.
