Suicide is never an option

As ever-increasing as crises in South Sudan, a gentleman, after years of failure, bought a rope and fixed a day for hanging himself.

When the day came, he pulled a pen and paper and sat down to write a note. Because he was writing with an Obama smoothline pen, he was piercing the paper and so, he looked for a book or something with a hard surface to put under the paper so that he could write well.

Fortunately, he picked a novel on his roommate’s table. Before putting it under the paper, he first opened it and his eyes fell on the heading “Hardships are teachers of life, for they make people resilient. He continued reading it until he came to a part which talks about suicidal thoughts. The author describes those who terminate their dear lives as toxic failures with chicken brains and low self-esteem. The guy closed the book and thought for a while. Then he called off the suicidal thought on the condition that he must change the jurisdiction of his business. A month later, he relocated to Aweil.

Now, news has it that he owns six shops, a restaurant and a plot of land. It is rumoured that he hires a cargo plane to bring for him commodities direct from Dubai. News of success is being propagated about him on a daily basis and people have already accused him of joining the Illuminati. Of course, lazy people are good at false accusations. How long does a well-setup business take to boom? Not long. Not so long.

So many factors lead to failure. Bad policies can make you fail and so does an unfavorable environment. Bad companionship can make one fail and so does insecurity. So, if one works and nothing improves, the resort is not suicide or give up. There are a plethora of things to look at, suicide is not even one of them. Of the things to look at, two things are important; books and sharing of your problem with a friend/colleague or brother.

There is no resilient person like a reader. A reader knows life is nothing, but a series of struggles. But a non-reader thinks life is his brother-in-law to joke with. So, a reader hibernates until better days arrive, but a non-reader succumbs to a very few challenges of survival. A problem shared is a problem halved! When a person shares his problem with a trusted friend/colleague or brother, half of such problem is solved. The remaining half becomes easy to tackle and there you get freed.

The solution to one’s problem is either in a book or with someone somewhere. Depending on one’s type of problem, every novel has a specific problem to address. A person having an entrepreneurial challenge should read novels written on entrepreneurship. A person having a leadership challenge should read novels written on leadership. Every walk of life has a book written on it and people should read them to get solutions to their own problems.

If one is illiterate or has a reading phobia, one should approach someone he/she sees as a trusted person to share a problem with and get its solution. It costs nothing to identify someone whom you see as a problem-solver. No matter how harsh life treats you, do not ever think of terminating your dear life. People say no condition is permanent. So, no condition is permanent. You may be poor today, but tomorrow, you may become rich. You may fail today, and tomorrow, you may succeed. All it needs is to be resilient while awaiting a better day. Endure. Endurance pays. The darker the night, the brighter the day.

Thank you for reading “Sowing The Seed Of Truth”.
