Kiir sacks Presidential Peace Envoy

By Staff writer

In a Decree issued last evening, President Salva Kiir sacked the Presidential Peace Envoy, Albino Mathom, who is also the government’s chief negotiator to the Tumaini Initiative.

This comes just hours after Kenyan President William Ruto held discussions with President Salva Kiir and Vice President Dr. Riek Machar in Juba.

It is not yet clear why the President removed the government negotiator, as the parties are expected to resume the talks in Nairobi.

In other decrees, Kiir also sacked the undersecretary in the Ministry of Petroleum Chol Deng Thon and appointed Deng Lual as the new Undersecretary.

The president also sacked the Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Petroleum, Mayen Jong and appointed William Anyak as the new advisor.

The head of the state also issued several decrees effecting changes to Unity State.
