Warrap State governor, Francis Marial Abur has urged the communities in Gogrial West County to promote peace.
According to a statement obtained from the governor’s office, Marial made the remarks while addressing a peace rally in Gogrial Town, the headquarters of Gogrial West County, over the weekend.
The governor stated that for peace to prevail in the area, every member must hold it within the family and with the neighbours.
He added that his tour is in all the counties in order to ensure that all the communities receive a message of peace and hold peace in order to pave the way for development.
He expressed that as the parties continue to implement the peace agreement, every citizen, including people in Warrap is tasked to hold peace.
The governor called for the need for communities in Warrap to build peace within the state and with their neighbours.
“Before you transmit the notion of peace to the neighbouring communities, it is vital for you to possess peace within to achieve political strength, economic stability, and cultural growth,” the governor said.
The governor acknowledged the communities of Gogrial West County for their warm reception and urged them to keep the commitment towards promoting the spirit of peace and togetherness.
Marial emphasized the need for the communities in the county to build trust and cooperation as they work together for peace and stability in the area.
In his part, the State Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Agem Akotdit Madut, called on the communities to team up with the government in building peace.
He added that for peace to prevail, there is a need for all the communities to unite with the governor and other state authorities.
On his part, Victor Wek Koor Aru, the Commissioner of Gogrial West County, said that peace is paramount, adding that it needs everyone’s efforts.
He appealed to the communities to settle disputes through dialogue, adding that dialogue results in peace and understanding.
However, the statement obtained from the governor’s press unit revealed that the communities vowed to support the governor in his mission of bringing peace to the area.
“The communities of Gogrial West County pledge their commitment to stand firmly to promote peace and unity in Warrap State in support of the governor’s peace initiatives for peace to prevail in Warrap State as priorities,” the statement partly read.
