A traffic police officer was on Thursday awarded a gift of one million South Sudan Pounds (SSP) for his exemplary service in Juba town.
Sergeant Chol Deng Dhol, who has been managing traffic at the old bridge in Juba since 2019, received this generous recognition.
A South Sudanese citizen, who only wished to be identified by his nickname, Joss Dut, expressed his admiration for Sergeant Dhol’s commitment and hard work.
“I am impressed by the commitment and hard work of this police officer. I always see him doing his work professionally. His traffic management skills always make me happy. So, I decided to share with him, the little I have,” Joss narrated.
During the gift handover, several drivers and local business operators praised the recognition of Sergeant Dhol’s service.
Isabella Kiden, a resident of Juba, shared her thoughts on his work.
“Your dedication is truly inspiring. You’re a role model for us all. We hope that your hard work and sacrifice will be duly recognized and rewarded,” she said.
Accepting the gift, Sergeant Chol Deng emphasized that the safety and well-being of road users is his top priority.
“I’m honoured to serve my community. It’s a privilege to contribute to the safety and well-being of others. The gratitude of the people is the greatest reward,” he concluded.
A few years ago, another traffic police officer, Kenyi George Lodu, was recognized by a group of South Sudanese who awarded him around 400 SSP and various food items.
