At least five people were wounded in a cattle raid on Wednesday in Mariik, Ngap-Agok payam, Gogrial East County, Warrap State, according to local authorities.
Residents report the raiders came from the Luany-jang community, allegedly seeking revenge against the Akook community.
Ngap-Agok Payam Administrator Daniel Machar described the incident as a retaliatory raid, following a previous attack by Akook youth on the Luany-jang community.
He confirmed that five people were wounded in the ensuing clash, three from the raiders and two from the Akook community.
“A lot of cattle and goats were taken away by the attackers,” Machar added.
Machar also stated that Akook youth killed two motorcyclists last week, which is believed to have triggered the revenge raid on Akook village in Ngap-Angok payam, Tonj East County.
This incident is the latest in a series of similar attacks and counter-attacks between communities in the area, often fueled by revenge killings and communal violence.
The cycle of violence continues to affect the state.
