Conversely, most parts of Somalia, Uganda, and Southern Ethiopia will receive less than usual rainfall.
However, a few areas in Western Ethiopia are expected to receive rainfall above the 90th percentile, while southern areas of Sudan and Western Ethiopia will get rainfall ranging between 50-200mm between late May and early June.
Most parts within the Greater Horn of Africa, including Uganda, Rwanda, Western and Coastal Kenya, Southern and Eastern Tanzania, Central to Southern Somalia, Central Ethiopia, and Southern areas of Sudan, will receive light rainfall of less than 50mm.
While cooler temperatures are expected over parts of Northern Sudan and a few other areas across the region, warmer than usual temperatures are anticipated across most of the Greater Horn of Africa.
High temperatures, exceeding 32 degrees Celsius, are expected in the Southern Region of Sudan, the coastal areas of Eritrea, North-East Ethiopia, Djibouti, and the coastal areas north of Somalia.
According to the forecast, moderate to high temperatures of between 20 and 32 degrees Celsius will be experienced across most areas of Sudan, Uganda, Northern and Eastern Kenya, Somalia, Eritrea, and Southeastern Ethiopia.
