In my nation, leaders lead with no difference

Benjamin-Ajuong-Machiek

I think they will bring change, fresh ideas, and a better life for the people. But as time goes by, I begin to notice something.

These leaders are not so different from each other. They talk in the same way, make the same promises, and follow the same path as the leaders before them.

Then I start to wonder: Why are all our leaders the same? Why do they lead with similarities, not differences? I feel confused. I ask myself, Is this what leadership is supposed to be?

Same Actions, Same Results

Most of our leaders talk about development, ending poverty, creating jobs, and building roads. These are good things. But the problem is not what they say—it’s what they do. Their actions are always the same. They appoint the same type of people into power. They make policies that sound good but don’t help the ordinary person. They make promises but never keep them. Even when the faces change, the system stays the same.

Leaders wear different clothes, come from different parties, and speak different languages. But their ways of ruling are almost always the same. They protect their own interests. They reward their friends and forget the people who voted for them. They silence voices that question them. This is not real leadership. This is repeating the same mistakes in different names.

Leadership Is Not Just About Power

After thinking deeply, I came to understand something. Being a leader is not just about having power or giving orders. A true leader is not someone who just follows what others before them did. A true leader creates a new path. A true leader lifts others up, mentors others, and helps new leaders grow.

In my nation, many leaders want to be the only one. They fear others rising. They want to remain on top forever. But good leadership is not about staying forever. It is about creating something better that can last beyond you. It is about making others strong, confident, and wise. It is about making a difference—not copying the past.

Why We Need Leaders Who Are Different

When leaders do things the same way every time, nothing changes. The people suffer. Young people lose hope. Corruption continues. Poor people remain poor. Fear controls the land.

We need leaders who think differently, act differently, and lead differently. We need leaders who listen to the people—not just during election time but every day. We need leaders who are not afraid of change. Leaders who don’t just follow the old ways but challenge them when they are wrong.

Being different does not mean being disrespectful. It means having the courage to say, “This is not working, let’s do it better.” It means asking questions and trying new solutions. It means making decisions that help everyone, not just the rich or powerful.

Leadership Is About Mentorship

I also learned that a leader’s job is not just to lead but to raise others. A great leader must be a mentor. They must teach others how to lead. They must guide, support, and grow new leaders. In my nation, many leaders fear giving space to younger people or new voices. But this is wrong.

If a leader does not train others, what happens when they are gone? Everything falls apart. The country suffers. The people lose direction. That is why a good leader must build others. Leadership is not a one-man show. It is a team effort.

My Hope for the Future

I believe my nation can rise. I believe change is possible. But for that to happen, we need leaders who are ready to make a difference, not just follow similarities. We need leaders who understand that leadership is service. It is not about being famous. It is about being useful. It is about making life better for others.

Let us stop praising leaders just because they speak well. Let us start asking, “What have they done differently?” Let us stop supporting leaders who repeat the same old actions. Let us start raising leaders who dare to be bold, who lead with love, wisdom, and justice.

After all, in my nation, many leaders lead with no difference. But leadership is not about sameness. It is about change. It is about growth. It is about lifting others and doing better than those before you. A true leader is one who makes a difference. My hope is that we begin to raise such leaders—leaders who will not just rule but transform.
