TRAGEDY; Armed men kill three civilians

Security in Kajo-Keji County has been stepped up following a fatal attack in Nyianga-Muda Village, Bori, Kangapo II Payam, claiming lives of three people.

According to the county commissioner, Wani Jackson Mule, one other person was also injured in the incident that occurred over the weekend

Commissioner Wani stated that suspected armed youths, believed to be from hold-out groups, carried out the violent attack.

Thos killed include 82 years old Julius Loke, a traditional chief of Nyianga-Muda Village; Standly Wani Phili, a medical worker from the same village; and 27 years old, Simaya Ladu James, all residents of Liwolo Village, Liwolo Payam.

Meanwhile, 19 years old Tunda Bosco, the fourth civilian victim, sustained a gunshot wound to his left lateral foot when the attackers opened fire. The injury caused damage to his tarsal muscles, leading to an open fracture on his left leg.

Kajo-Keji county commissioner described the event as startling and impediment to development.

“These acts of violence are not only inhuman but also destabilize the county, spreading fear among residents and obstructing progress towards sustainable development,” the commissioner said in a press release.

Despite the attack, the Commissioner encouraged the population to resume normal activities and coexist peacefully. He assured Kajo-Keji residents of the government’s capacity to quell the current security situation in some parts of the county.

He further called upon residents of Kajo-Keji County, particularly those in areas experiencing insecurity, to cooperate with the Joint Operation Forces deployed to protect lives and property.

“I call upon all community leaders, including religious and traditional leaders, businesspeople, civil society activists, and political elites, to unite to support peace and development in Kajo-Keji County,” the statement added.

The Commissioner concluded by stating that the assailants are still at large.
