Fatal road accident kills one in Jonglei

One person died on spot in a fatal road accident at Mathiang Boma of Baidit Payam Jonglei state, over the weekend.

According to traffic Police in Jonglei State, two motorcycles involved in a terrible road accident on Saturday evening.

Speaking to No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, the director of Traffic Police in Jonglei State, Maj. General Johnson Thon said the motorists were returning from a celebration at Yom-Chiir Boma in Jalle Payam.

“It was dark when the motorbikes collided. You know that many people had attended the celebration ceremony at Yom-Chiir Boma, everyone was rushing back to town. This is when incident took place,’’ Thon said.

He said the person died on spot and another person who sustained injuries were taken Bor state Hospital.

Maj. Gen. Johnson, revealed that the two motorcycles involved in the accident are completely damaged.

He cited that the fatal accident could be caused by over speeding.

“The person who sustained injuries is being nursed at Bor Hospital, it’s unfortunate that these incidents are still happening. We have been cautioning the motorists to avoid over speeding but they don’t listen,’’ he added.

He added the traffic police personnel have been sent to the scene of incident to gather further details about the incident.

Last month, two people died of the similar fatal road accident along Baidit –Bor road.
