South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) calls for expressions of interest and applications for 2nd National Quality Awards Competition.
Under the theme “Raising Standards: Driving Regional Excellence & Global,” the awards aim to recognize and celebrate organizations and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting and advancing quality in economic sector.
The National Quality Awards are designed to cultivate a strong culture of quality within South Sudan by encouraging the adoption of international standards and best practices in quality management.
SSNBS stated that the awards specifically seek to promote interest in Quality Management (QM) and organizational excellence, recognize organizations that are leaders in implementing international standards.
Furthermore the awards aim to inspire both Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and large enterprises to pursue continuous improvement and innovation, raise public awareness about the vital role of quality in driving competitiveness and enhance cross-country experience-sharing for enterprise visibility, regional integration, and market access.
Aspiring candidates are also assured benefits of winning. According to the SSNBS recipients of the National Quality Awards will gain significant advantages, including: National and regional recognition, elevating their profile, Increased trust and credibility with customers and stakeholders, Enhanced media visibility and public exposure, boosting their brand and a significant boost in employee morale and organizational pride.
The 2nd edition of the National Quality Awards comes with well-defined Categories and Eligibility
The awards will be presented across five distinct categories:
National Product of the Year: Recognizing excellence in products from both Large Enterprises and SMEs; National Company of the Year: Honoring outstanding companies, encompassing both Large Enterprises and SMEs.
Other categories are; National Service Excellence Award: Recognizing exceptional service in both the public and private sectors; National Exporter of the Year: Targeting enterprises specifically within the agri-processing sector. And finally National Standardization Excellence Award: Acknowledging significant contributions to the adoption and promotion of standards.
Meanwhile, to be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria includingbBe a legally registered enterprise operating within South Sudan, have implemented a recognized management system or possess a valid product certification mark (SSNBS Quality Mark) and comply with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
Application Process and Key Dates.
The award process is conducted in two stages: Step 1: Submission of your application to SSNBS to participate in the national level competition and then the National-level winners will then be nominated to represent South Sudan in the East African Community (EAC) Regional Quality Awards.

In October last year, the South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) nominated six outstanding companies and businesses as finalists for the esteemed 2024 National Quality Awards. The National Quality Awards Competition Committee, conducted the selection in collaboration with South Sudan Chamber of Commerce
