Unity State government has condemned road ambush of a commercial boat, demanding arrest of the perpetrators.
The ambush of a commercial boat on Friday, last week, resulted in the death of four people, while six remain missing.
Carrying a huge number of traders, the boat was reportedly ambushed while on its way from Unity state to Juba.
Unity State Minister of Information, Gatwech Bipal Both, in statement urged neighbouring Lakes State government to apprehend the perpetrators.
“The Unity state government condemned crimes committed by youths believed to be from Lake State. Revenge tendencies ought to stop,” Bipal said in a statement.
“Unity state government calls upon the Lake State leadership to apprehend the criminals and serve justice so that such atrocities will not happen again in the future,” he added.
The government and the people of Unity State have conveyed heartfelt condolences messages to the families for the soul losses at Shambek Port in Lake State.
The state government reiterated its commitment to dialogue and preventing violence within and with the neighbouring states and areas.
“Unity State remains open to constructive intergovernmental dialogue, reconciliation, and collaboration with Lake State to address underlying concerns and prevent future conflict in the region,” he said.
The authority appealed to all families of the deceased to refrain and remain calm for the law to take its course without revenge tendencies.
