SSFF rolls out Football Calendar

By Alan Clement

South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) has unveiled a comprehensive calendar for the 2025/26 football season.

The calendar which covers senior league matches, youth competitions, women’s football, national cup fixtures and aligns with key FIFA international windows was released by the federation on July 25, 2025.

The announcement of the calendar which runs from August 2025 to May 2026 follows the Extraordinary Executive Committee Meeting No. 7/2025, chaired by SSFF President Augustino Maduot Parek, on July 18, 2025 in Juba.

“This is a positive step toward standardized, inclusive football development across the country and aligns with key FIFA international windows underscoring SSFF’s commitment to both local growth and global integration,” SSFF outlined in a statement.

In the newly released calendar, the South Sudan Premier League will kick off on August 21, 2025, continuing until May 26, 2026 with weekly fixtures following a structured match format with games scheduled every Thursday through Sunday culminating in seven competitive matches per week.

The Women’s League opens on September 22, 2025 and runs until March 23, 2026, pausing briefly in December for the transfer window. The format supports equitable competition and strengthens player rotation across clubs.

Additionally, the revamped South Sudan Cup will begin on 1st, December, 2025, at Sub-Football Association level and progress to Zonal and Final stages in January 2026. “This provides grassroots clubs nationwide a chance to contest for honors,” SSFF noted.

Youth talent development remains central to the SSFA which has planned competitions for U20, U17, and U15 boys and girls spread across October 2025 to May 2026, forming a key scouting avenue for South Sudan’s future stars.

“SSFF has synchronized its schedule with FIFA’s match windows in September, October, November 2025, and March 2026 in an effort to accommodate national team commitments,” the SSFF further emphasized.

The 2025/26 season will open with a Super Cup clash in early August, pitting the league champions against cup holders in a curtain-raiser aimed at boosting fan engagement.

SSFF confirmed that detailed fixtures for each competition will be released in phases to ensure clubs and supporters can plan effectively. Federation officials describe the 2025/2026 calendar as a landmark benchmark for competitive reform, gender inclusion, and institutional transparency in South Sudan’s football landscape.
