It was registered by the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, with a mission to become a platform that addresses people’s needs by offering  solutions to them,  provide safe working  environment for female journalists as they are always faced with harassment at work  and also give  opportunities to journalism students  who want to further their knowledge through internships.

As we celebrate the second anniversary of the company, we acknowledge the services rendered by both our esteemed readers and the clients.

No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper is a South Sudanese based Print Media Company that was founded with the vision of becoming the No.1 source of information that fosters growth and development in all aspects of lives of the citizens.

No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper offers quality and credible information and we majorly report on human rights, health, education, business and human interest stories and many other areas. We focus on facts, clarity, balance to improve quality information for our readers; we therefore focus on local and firsthand information.

No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper as your most reliable news provider started as an online platform in 2019 with five reporters and one news editor, and then started printing its publication on the 14th July 2020 during the prevalence of the COVID- 19 Pandemic. Now it’s the most widely read newspaper that covers the whole of South Sudan and up to Uganda with reporters across the country providing quality and credible news stories including investigative and feature stories.

The Media house since its commencement is standing alone but with generous support from our subscribers whom we appreciate and hope to keep and have more as we continue to grow. From having only seven employees, the newspaper now is an employer of more than 28 professional national staff who are running the daily operation of the paper. The country should be happy that they are enjoying the raw works of their children. My heart felt congratulations goes to No. 1 Citizen’s team for making sure that readers have a newspaper each and every signal day through these difficulties and not forgetting those who were with us and left for other assignments and responsibilities, thank you and congratulations to you all and continue reading the best newspaper ever in the country. We also appreciate the mutual cooperation, understanding and support from the printing press as the last in the production process in making sure the newspaper sees the light of the day, every day. Congratulations to you Universal Printers for your generous support even at difficult times, you stood us. I also appreciate all institutions mandated to regulate the operations of media houses, or to manage the affairs of media in South Sudan.
