The former Deputy Minister of Interior in the re-vitalized peace agreement, Mabior Garang, has denied reports circulated over the social media that he had resigned from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO).

Mabior, who spoke to No.1 Citizen Newspaper from Nairobi Kenya on Sunday, described those whom he said had concocted the story, as having evil wishes towards him, wishing him to resign from the party.

“Am not resigning from the party any time soon,” Mabior said

According to the letter dated 12 of July, Mabior was quoted as having said that he had lost faith in the vision and principles of the party under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny, accusing Dr. Machar of being a critic of nepotism and favoritism, but appointed his wife as minister of defense, and that he also appointed incompetent people in the ministries of petroleum and health, citing Elizabeth Acuie, as having failed to control the sector during the pandemic.

The letter further indicated that Machar has failed to control the massive defections happening inside the party and that he has failed to ensure that the security protocols are implemented. The letter concluded that Dr. Riek Machar Teny has forgotten about the values and objectives of the movement, and now is focused on the power to benefit himself and his family. As a result the letter said, he has no longer been fighting for security arrangement and reform and instead is focused on maintaining the status quo.

The letter that was seen on social media, bearing the logo of SPLM, indicates an address of Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement general headquarters, but did not indicate the headquarters of the SPLM-IO.

However, No.1 citizen newspaper called the press secretary in the office of the First Vice President, James Gadet Dak, who clarified that Mabior had already replied on his accurate Facebook account, that it was a fake account.
