Authorities in Kajo-Keji County said armed cattle raiders have clashed with the Ugandan People’s Defense forces (UPDF) in Keriwa Sub-county of Yumbe District leaving one herder critically wounded.

Erasto Kenyi, Commissioner of Kajo-Keji County said the cattle herders had crossed to Ugandan side to raid cattle and got intercepted by the UPDF on their way back. The incident took place today in the morning hours. “The Ugandan People’s Defense Forces pursued the South Sudanese armed cattle raiders until they clashed with them which resulted to the wounding of one herder in the battle,” he said

Kenyi said he had requested the Bishop of Kajo-Keji Diocese Emmanuel Murye for ambulance so that the wounded person could be taken to the hospital. However, attempts to reach the authorities of Yumbe District for comment was futile by press time.
