The bishop-elect of Rumbek diocese Christian Carlassare will be consecrated in the Rumbek Diocese on the 25th of March 2022.

The information was revealed by the Wau Diocese that it consulted the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan.

“After due consultation with the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan and the bishop-elect, I am happy to announce to you the consecration of the bishop of Rumbek. The Consecration of bishop elect Fr. Christian Calassare will take place on the solemnity of the announcement of the lord, 25th March 2022 in Rumbek,” partly read the announcement.

The consecration which was supposed to happen in June 2021 was suspended after the bishop was shot on his legs on the 25th April 2021 allegedly to scare him from taking position as bishop in Rumbek.

Six suspects including a clergy man are still in preliminary court hearing awaiting the final court verdict.

One of the accused Fr. John Mathiang has been implicated by other accused of being behind the shooting.

He however said Fr. John Mathiang denied all wrong doings.
